HONOLULU, HI – Kamaka Air has successfully completed its second year supporting the annual cleanup of Kalaupapa’s northern coastline on Moloka‘i, providing vital air cargo transport to help restore one of Hawai‘i’s most remote and ecologically sensitive regions.
The weeklong effort, held July 27 through August 3, brought volunteers and environmental crews together to remove marine debris and restore shoreline integrity in Kalaupapa National Historical Park—a culturally and environmentally significant area that remains difficult to access by land or sea. Kamaka Air played a key logistical role, flying in essential supplies and equipment to ensure the cleanup could take place safely and efficiently.
“Supporting Kalaupapa is deeply personal for us,” said George Ka‘anana, President of Kamaka Air. “This isn’t just about logistics—it’s about kuleana. We’re proud to help preserve a place that holds such cultural, historical, and environmental significance for Hawai‘i. Our team is honored to do our part in keeping this special coastline clean.”
Kamaka Air’s ongoing partnership reflects its broader commitment to environmental stewardship and supporting hard-to-reach communities across the islands. The Kalaupapa cleanup continues to demonstrate how strategic logistics and local collaboration can make a lasting impact in protecting Hawai‘i’s natural beauty.
